Dear friends and family,
Greetings and the blessings of Christ to you and your families! It’s always amazing how fast summer goes by. How about how fast life goes by! Our grandkids now range from a high school sophomore to a three year old. It seems like just yesterday WE were high school sophomores falling in and out of “love” and surfing USA! What happened? There is not a day that goes by that we do not praise the Lord for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It changed 4 generations in our family. Our parents, us, our children and now our grandchildren are in Christ. We all love the Lord and this is our treasure. Life is so fast. We cannot slow it down. But we can make it count.
Holly has now begun her 20th year as the McLean Community Bible Study Teaching Director. The group has grown over the years to 80 small group leaders and 450 women and 120 children. They are studying the book of Acts this year. What a book for the days we live in! One of the continuing stories that has been so much fun and such a blessing to watch is the birth of a women’s Bible Study in Middleburg Virginia. The Lord impressed upon Holly’s heart a few years ago to encourage the women from Middleburg to “Graduate” from the McLean class and start something for the women in Middleburg. The women were taken aback at first that Holly was asking them to leave her class and start another one in their community. Well, they did it! Believing that this was the Lord’s doing they now have over 100 women joyfully attending! They refer to Holly as their god-mother! ❤ 😄
And that’s not all! The men in Middleburg could see the work the Lord was doing among the women and the difference it was making in their lives. They said, “Why don’t the men have something like the gals have?” So they asked Jerry if he would come and be the men’s teacher. Now they have a group of 70 and growing! May the Lord bless Middleburg for inviting Christ to be part of their community. Amen!
Jerry and Holly were in San Diego early November speaking to Marines from Camp Pendleton and Miramar Aviation Base at the Marine Ball. A great honor to speak to these brave young warriors! Most of the men Jerry ministers to call him “Coach”. He loves it. He is still recovering from his heart attack. His pace is slower, but steady and deeper. As people look at the world today many are falling into despair which is a synonym for hopelessness. This is unacceptable. Grief is a proper response, but despair is not the Way of the Cross. True followers of Christ never, never lose their hope……Never. Our God will indeed have the last word!
May the Peace of the Lord be with you all,
Holly and Jerry
