This past weekend, my wife Holly and I had the distinct pleasure of welcoming two remarkable visitors to our home—the reigning Miss Colorado Rodeo and Miss USA Rodeo. Their presence at our ranch added a special sparkle to our weekend, filling it with enthusiasm, learning, and a strong sense of community.
Amidst the scenic beauty of our valley, these Rodeo Queens led an inspiring seminar for the young aspiring rodeo enthusiasts from around our area. Their expertise and passion for rodeo were palpable, as they shared tips, stories, and encouragement, igniting dreams and building confidence in the next generation of rodeo athletes.
In the heart of our gathering was my wife, Holly, affectionately known to us as Smokin’ Hot Holly. Her warmth and hospitality shone brightly as she hosted a chili dinner on Saturday night, which was more than just a meal—it was a celebration of community and shared values. Holly’s culinary delights provided the perfect backdrop for fellowship and laughter, reinforcing the bonds among all who attended.
This event wasn’t just about rodeo; it was a manifestation of our faith in action. Putting Jesus on the scoreboard, as we like to say, reflects our commitment to living a life that honors our faith through every action we take and every event we host. It’s the essence of Young Life, a ministry that’s been in our blood for generations, transforming lives and strengthening communities through Christ.
Reflecting on the weekend, I’m reminded of how different this life is from my years spent in Washington, DC. It’s a life filled with authenticity, purpose, and joy—qualities that resonate deeply with the values we cherish.
As we continue to host these gatherings and share our love for rodeo and faith, we invite you to join us in celebrating this incredible journey. Whether you’re near or far, our hearts and our home are open to you, filled with the promise of adventure, spiritual growth, and a warm bowl of Holly’s famous chili.
Let’s ride this exciting rodeo of life together, grounded in faith and spurred by the indomitable spirit of the West!
